In Defense of VotefortheWorst.com: I Respond to VTFW Hate Mails
March 20, 2007

So…when Fox starts promos for the show in November, and when the show kicks off in January, and gives airtime and notoriety to every possible untalented, delusional fuck who can’t sing, for all the world to see? This could be calculated as “cruel and mean-spirited”, but…you don’t give half a shit about any of that, of course.

However, a site telling people to vote for a singer who isn’t that good? That’s “embarrassing the untalented, extending their discomfort”? And then, while you cry for the defense of poor, poor Sanjaya, you advocate for his committing mass homicide. (You know, that email could’ve have been interpreted as a threat and sent to the FBI, based on the last sentence alone. Duh.) But somehow his elimination would be the best thing for him, according to you? Let’s do the math here—if Sanjaya wins, he gets a guaranteed, $1 million recording contract. He loses, and idiots like you all go out and celebrate in the streets, whooping it up, while he goes home, and watches person after person gleefully celebrate his elimination. I’m guessing here, but Sanjaya’s probably going to go mental by all of you saying that “he wants to go home”, “he sucks”, “he’s a **** ******”, “fuck Sanjaya”, “He’s a faa-aag”, and all of that other shit, than he would at votefortheworst.com. But of course, in all your self-importance, you dolts can’t see that end of the moral spectrum. And it’s all because you can’t stand to see someone have more influence than you do. Let’s be honest; that’s what it’s really about, when you add it all up.

Look, I love America, and I don’t go around looking for a president to fail as miserably as George W. Bush has. (Congress, on the other hand? Oh, how I root for failures–openly and gleefully. I want certain people in there to fail, if only to prevent them from trying to ascend and fail on the highest possible level—the Presidency.) But given the war and Katrina/NOLA/Mississippi, and 9/11 in the fact that the most wanted man in the world—the guy who bankrolled the attacks—can’t be found, and nobody wants to bother looking? I mean, these have got to qualify as the worst screw-ups of all time, and in one way or another, the President had a hand in all of them.

A Step in The Right Direction

This is good news, so far as I’m concerned. This network hasn’t done much in the past few years, and it’s about time that Viacom start investing in the network. There is a valuable asset there, that has been in a deteriorating state for more than a decade. A commitment to expanding the media base for its target audience–African Americans–can only serve to improve the network. I’ll wait to see what happens, but any move toward developing original programming that has nothing to do with airing more music videos is a start.
