I’d remind Senator Clinton of this: sixteen years ago there was a Democratic candidate who spoke of hope, and lifting up the people (specifically the middle class in America). He wasn’t given a chance in hell to win, and that guy (and his wife) took broadsides all through that campaign that would have ended other political careers cold. But the people eschewed the flaws, and went and elected some Southerner who spoke well and connected with the people to serve as their president. He went on to serve two terms as president, despite all the personal and political gaffes he (and his wife) made; thus providing a springboard that, eight years after he’s gone from office, allows you to belittle another candidate in your party, who spoke of the same general American principle that he spoke of all those years ago. The only difference between Senator Obama and President Clinton is that the former is in your path, and you have no quarrel throwing him under any bus to break through the imaginary glass ceiling—the one you’ve stood on for over a decade or more—to achieve your ultimate goal. All because you can’t do what he does, though even at your best, you can, and might well have if you’d long ago decided to stop listening to the scientists at Manchurian Global, and just did what that 45-year old man (aka your husband) did 16 years ago—connect with the people.
